In 2001, Aaron York got involved in drag racing with a 1971 big block Chevy he retro fit for the drag strip. This was a challenge on a shoe string budget. In the spring of 2002, Aaron located a 1968 NHRA approved Nova with a small block Chevy and convinced Don York, his dad, to partner with him and the York Racing team was born.
After four years of bracket racing, first with a small block and then moving up to a big block, the decision was made into move into a blown big block and the Outlaw 10.5 class. Aaron had a serious accident on the last race of the year in 2007; he was not injured but the car was severely damaged. After the accident, the chassis was sent to Sheppard’s Racing in Covington, GA for a chassis retro fit and to Andy Euler to build a blown Hemi.
The car didn’t make it back on the track until late 2008. The 2008 racing season was spent working the kinks out and fine tuning the car. The 2009 season was very successful with two shootout wins and a win in the overall points for the year. These wins were achieved while continuing to fine tune the car.
